Introduction to principal theories of the acquisition of a second or foreign language. Explores how language learning styles and strategies relate to language acquisition and implications for the classroom.

Pedagogical and hands-on training for in-service teachers. Note: For students pursuing teacher certification in French, German, Spanish or other language.

MLNG 474G    Teaching Foreign Language    3 Hours

Develops skills, procedures and strategies for teaching foreign language in middle and secondary schools. Field experiences in public schools and/or appropriate settings away from campus are required. Note: Students are responsible for arranging their own transportation to designated or assigned sites.

Topics in modern language cultures and societies, including literature and the arts, social issues, and current events, as well as aspects of language pedagogy. Students enroll in course sections for the language of their major.
